FW: [jeffcodems] VOTE CANVASSERS NEEDED FOR COUNTING EARLY VOTING/ABSENTEE BALLOTS/ELECTION NIGHT/PROVISIONAL BALLOTS

This is what we must ask each county chair of each political party to do to keep our election officials on their toes to keep votes from being "tossed".

If anyone on this list is able to spread the word to other counties, particularly those using electronic voting machines, to help in canvassing for this election, please find attached two helpful articles about what to look for and why this differs from poll watching on election day (no less important but people will be using absentee ballots in record numbers this year and we want to make sure they're counted!)

There is a meeting tomorrow night in Lakewood at 7 p.m. 1516 Xavier St. about this, and we will call the folks at the Rocky Mt. Peace & Justice Center in Boulder to coordinate with them on this, as well as on a media strategy and fundraising concerns.

HI Jeffco Democrat,

We are in need of Democrats who can volunteer to monitor (watch carefully)
the counting of Absentee Ballots/Early Voting Results/Election Day Results/and
Provisional Ballots both during the day and in the evening (you could volunteer
for either or both).

I, as Jeffco Dems Chair, must designate the Official Canvassers for the
Democratic Party no later than Monday, October 18, to the Jefferson County Clerk
and Recorder, Division of Elections.

The Canvassers will begiin county Absentee and Early Voting results on
Saturday, October 23, although no results can be disclosed before 7:00 p.m., on
November 3.

The Canvassers will need to work most of the night on Tuesday, November 2
(Election Day), and for the next several days monitoring the counting and
verification of Provisional Ballots and other voting results.

THIS IS A CRITICALLY IMPORTANT POSITION SINCE WE MUST MAKE SURE THAT ALL
POSSIBLE BALLOTS ARE COUNTED AND VERIFIED, ESPECIALLY SINCE PROVISIONAL BALLOT
CHALLENGES AND TOUCH SCREEN VOTING RESULTS MAY BE PROBLEMATIC.

WE NEED PEOPLE WHO ARE ASSERTIVE, EAGLED-EYED AND AVAILABLE BOTH DURING THE
DAY AND SOME EVENINGS.

Please send your name and contact information along with the days and
evenings you could be an "Official Canvasser." The Official results of the election
must prepare an official abstract of votes cast for the General Election no
later than November 17th.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THIS ELECTION IS ACCURATE, VERIFIABLE AND LEAVES NO
POSSIBLE BALLOTS UNCOUNTED.

WE MUST HAVE THE NAMES NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14, IN ORDER THAT YOU
NAMES CAN BE SUBMITTED BY THE COUNTY CHAIR TO THE JEFFERSON COUNTY CLERK AND
RECORDER.
