Hi All,We can meet at my house this Wednesday at 7:00, unless there is a desire to meet at 6:30--please let me know. The address is 1520 Cress Court, Boulder, CO; 80304 (303) 442-2164.
If you have been to Margit's house, use the same approach to mine, i.e., head north on BROADWAY past the main intersection with IRIS. The street names are alphabetical. At the top of the hill, before you would turn to go to Margit's, turn RIGHT on NORWOOD AVENUE. Go east two blocks. My house is on the southwest corner of Norwood and CRESS COURT, so is a RIGHT turn from Norwood. If you get to Wilson Court or 19th Street, you have gone too far.
(Joe, you can just take Norwood from your neighborhood westward.) Agenda items from Margit:1. Ballot-signing parties in Colorado. (I have to research this more; does anyone else have information on this?)
2. Poll watching: what it entails More possibilities for the agenda (from Mary):3. Shall we do all we can to support Neal McBurnett in his effort to improve audits of the 2008 election? If so, this action seems to me to be of highest priority before and after the election--but not on election day when other actions already discussed will be critical.
4. Also of high priority at this time, shall we try to meet with Governor Ritter about whom he will pick for SoS? Or at least, let him know those we would not like and why (no names in e-mail, please). If so, who would like to arrange this meeting and who would like to go? Bob McGrath keeps suggesting that I talk with Trey Rogers about the Presidential Paper Count; maybe that subject could also be part of a meeting with both the governor and Trey Rogers.
5. Shall we formulate a plan concerning the Election Reform Commission? We need good contact info for all members. They are lawyer Scott Martinez, Sen. Ken Gordon, Larimer County Clerk Scott Doyle, Bent County Clerk Patti Nickell, Denver County Clerk Stephanie O'Malley, El Paso County Clerk Bob Balink, Deputy Secretary of State Bill Hobbs, lawyer Scott Gessler, Castle Rock Town Clerk Sally Misare, Mark Baisley of Douglas County, and attorney Paul F. Hultin.
6. Shall we seek to establish early communications with legislators about the upcoming session and try to influence the wording of bills, as mentioned by Angie in her strategy document? This step needs to take place after the election because some seats will change, but seems worth bringing up now.
I've attached my color-coded version of Angie's document as a point of departure for any other "strategizing." Please take a look. There are things in that document not covered in this e-mail, such as the Web site and the Conference on World Affairs at CU.
